If your kit experienced any service delays, but still arrived the week of the shipment, the samples should be okay to test.
Please note that our proficiency testing samples are designed to be stable without refrigeration for the shipment period. They are made with preservatives to withstand shipping times. An ice pack is included (in most kits) to protect the PT samples against exposure to extreme temperatures during shipment. We do understand and expect that the ice pack may be thawed upon arrival and the samples may be warm. However, this will not affect the integrity of the samples
In this instance, we advise you to make a testing comment when you report your results.This can be accomplished in the following ways, depending on how you choose to report:
- If reporting online, once you have accessed the result entry screen, click the Sample ID# and follow the on-screen instructions to report a test problem. This will need to be done on each sample involved.
- If reporting on paper/by mail, make a note on the Comments page and include it with the rest of your worksheets when you mail them to API.
